IN TUNE WITH SALIDA: A festival has brought in top chamber music for 30 years. The tickets are cheap, but the musicians wouldn't miss it.

Quick Facts

Salida Aspen Concerts are administered by Salida Concerts, Inc, a Colorado non-profit.

The very first concert was held July 22, 1977. The Monarch String Quartet played to an audience of about 175 people.

The series grew out of a pilot program initiated by the Music Associates of Aspen, who envisioned an outreach program of lecture and music for small Western Slope towns.

By 1978, six concerts were scheduled with the financial support of Joe Lionelle, an executive of the U.S. Soil Company in Salida.

Salida Aspen Concerts has the longest running community partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School.

By 1980, Salida Concerts was able to assume all expenses of running the concert series.

Annual attendance over the past five years has averaged 1500 concert goers. In 2013, we reached a total of 1804 over seven concerts.
