WILLIAM HAGEN and ORION WEISS
WILLIAM HAGEN, VIOLIN, AND ORION WEISS, PIANO. July 8

William Hagen, 23, violinist, has already played twice at Salida Aspen Concerts. He was the third-place winner of the 2015 Queen Elizabeth Competition -- the highest-ranking American since 1985. The Dallas Morning News called him a "brilliant virtuoso…a standout…[with] an intellectual command of line and score, and just the right amount of power."

Orion Weiss, pianist, played in Salida two years ago with pianist Shai Wosner in piano-four hands and two-piano works. They got one of the loudest standing ovations in our history. He has soloed with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and New York Philharmonic, among many great aggregations. Said the Washington Post, "When you're named after one of the biggest constellations in the night sky, the pressure is on to display a little star power -- and the young pianist Orion Weiss did just that."

Among other things, they will play the Cesar Franck violin sonata, and Schubert's Rondo Brilliant, which deserves that word "brilliant."

William Hagen and Orion Weiss, Saturday - July 8th, 2017-7:30 p.m., pre-concert talk 6:45: $15.00
